That we are taught manners as we get older to tell us the difference between good and evil. I can see how people have that opinion on how we act. We as babies, don’t know the difference between good and bad. We depend on our parents to tell us the difference, they teach us manners, help us to decide when it’s time do something, and when we shouldn’t do anything. I do acknowledge people’s views on that subject. One way William Golding shows that humans are naturally evil when there is no order, is when the boys in, “Lord of the Flies”, kill their first pig. They start to chant, “Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Bash her in.” (pg 75). That part however, can be used for a counter argument as well. In the beginning after the plane crashed, Jack comes across a pig trapped. The boys needed to kill this pig to eat. However, Jack couldn’t do it since he was raised in such an environment that he wouldn’t be able to deal with the thought of a knife piercing thing pig’s skin and blood spilling all over. “Then the pig tore loose from the creepers and scurried into the undergrowth. They were left looking at each other and the place of terror. Jack’s face was white under the freckles. He noticed that he still held the knife aloft and brought his arm down, replacing the blade in the sheath” (pg 31). This is still when the boys are still used to civilization. He was just recently placed in this environment and he had no clue what to do. Until later in the book, the boys understand the environment that they are placed in and they will need to fight and kill in order to stay alive until
