You start off as a patrol office then you can move up to sergeant, lieutenant, and lastly chief. Some townships have detectives and that go undercover as well. “In my department we have people that go undercover,” said Nyhart. “The main people that go undercover are in the narcotics department for our township.” Narcotics department is all about solving crimes with drug related problems. He also stated that when you go into this field just know that you can 't hide anything. “They interview my family and friends and even my ex wives,” stated Nyhart. “You then have to go do a polygraph test and then a psychology evaluation.” The psychology test is probably the funniest part because they ask you the craziest questions and basically evaluate you like you are a mental health patient, well thats the one I got at least, said Nyhart. The polygraph is basically to see if you have done any drugs and have any in your system. Nyhart suggested if you wanna go into this field then don 't smoke marijuana or do drugs and if you do stop now.
