When making a decision there are generally three different models to base decision off of. Rational decision-making is a model that suggests choosing the option with that maximizes the preferred outcome. Option one is turning the abandoned building into a private office space. These offices can be sold or rented and would guarantee a significant amount of revenue for the town. A part of the building could be reserved for organization that can provide social services for the town. Option two is turning the abandoned building into an office space. Corporate sponsors would fund this option. The community center would provide more events and services for the town making the people who live there happy and creating a higher quality of living. If the people in the town do not take advantage of the services held at the center then their quality of life is not changing. Another risk is that if the people in the community do not participate in the fundraisers and events held to create revenue for the town, there will be no profits raised and it is possible that quality of living could even decrease.
By turning the building into private offices, organizations and businesses will buy and rent the space providing constant income for the town at much less of a risk. It also takes into account the town’s goal of creating a higher quality of life by reserving a section of the building that provides town services. This option has the best of both worlds in terms of community services and profit opportunities.
I made this decision based off of the information that was available to me. If I wanted to take the decision making process even further I could do more research into the needs and wants of the people who live in the town.
