They have the money to get anything they want, but cannot spend it. Maybe they already spent it on a lot of things, and if they keep spending it then they will be broke. Most of the time money does not satisfy humans. Money makes people alone for either choosing money over their loved ones, or just because money is not what they want at that moment. They want the person that they love the most with them by their side. “Alone,” can be religious in a way, “How to find my soul a home” (Angelou 3). The soul of the lonely person can be either good or bad. People can find their soul either in heaven or hell. Mostly depends on the human, to either have a horrible soul or a loving soul. Humans may feel unwanted that their soul tells them to turn their back. On the other hand, the soul can say to not give up, and to try again. Not giving up lets everyone know how strong people are. “I want to mirror your image to its fullest perfection” (Rilke 14). The narrator wants to reflect their life to someone they admire the most. They do not want their life to be messed up. Every individual wants a perfect life, and a life that is filled with love and happiness. “I want to unfold. / Nowhere I wish to stay crooked, bent” (Rilke 17-18). The narrator wants to straighten their life. This person is finally getting up and doing things right, and actually trying to have a life. They do not want to be that lonely person with no life. Humans tend to fight for perfection, yet nobody will ever be perfect. Everybody knows that, except the people striving to be perfect. It is better if you stay as that unique individual. This poem can be about being alone physically, mentally, emotionally, or even spiritually. “I am much too alone in this world, yet not alone / enough / to truly consecrate the hour” (Rilke 1-2). There is no time set to honor or revere. Probably nobody likes each other, but themselves. Sometimes the person that cares the most, ends up being the one alone. It can also be the soul or shadow of the individual. Shadows follow and imitate people, as where souls stay inside that individual. Souls can be filled with sadness and darkness, but it is up to humanity to choose wisely. “I want my conscience to be true before you” (Rilke 20-21).
