Obama was raised by a single mother and he turned out to be the president of the United States. There are some children that turned out to be the worst when raised by a single mother or both parents. Some people might say single mothers are bad for the society, I say that it is not the single mothers, it is the society and the people that live in the society. The bias against these family structures and not providing the necessary support for them makes single parenthood look bad. Parenthood has its challenges and single mothers should be applauded rather than criticized every day. My mother did not chose to be a single mother, my father left her and she worked hard every day to put food on our table, clothes on our body and a roof over our head. She didn’t ask for help from anyone, but occasionally she would borrow money but pay it right back. The church where single motherhood stigmatization is still practiced needs to put an end to its practice. My mother needed comfort and she went to the church but unfortunately for her, going to the church was a bad idea for her as she only experienced judgment and condemnation by her fellow church members. The church need to understand that everyone has a story and no one is perfect. They need to stop pointing fingers and stop turning their back on single mothers. There are a lot of single mothers out there raising the best children in the world. My mother is one, she raised children that her now successful. My brother Greg he’s 35 years old, petroleum engineer and now lives in Belgium. My sister Gina, she’s 33, occupational therapist, lives in Dallas Texas and she’s married to her classmate he’s an occupational therapist also. My sister Femi, she’s 30, she’s a physician assistant. My brother Fabiola, he’s 27 and he’s a chemical engineer, he owns a donut shop called glazed donuts in Houston Texas.
