I pledge allegiance to the flag and the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under god, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. I’ve stood up, placed my right hand over my heart, and performed these lyrics of the pledge of allegiance since kindergarten. I never quite understood why some students were so ignorant and would choose to sit or sleep in highschool when we were asked to stand for the pledge. In middle school and elementary we would all happily stand and all proudly yell the lyrics to the pledge without hesitation but that’s because we were too naive to understand the defiant meaning behind those stars and stripes. But have you looked at the lyrics ? Examined what they mean? Not just for you but for this country? The last six words never used to phase me or even remotely spark my attention but now that I am aware of what takes place in America those last 6 words are just a pretty little packaged lie, especially to me, being african american. With liberty and justice for all. We’ve definitely fallen short with keeping that pledge and promise to the people of this country. It should say “With liberty and justice for some.”
Racial profiling, Educational system, and Government laws and rules being broken and bended are the three reasons I will hit on that will explain my reasoning of why I think America is no longer the greatest country. The other side proclaims that America is the most helpful, selfless, and innovative country in the world. America 's freedoms and rules to help, protect, and serve our country are truly admirable. It is not that america is at fault it is that americans have made it an undesirable place. The life, liberty and justice for all, the rights that each citizen has and is born with is a blessing to Americans. Our leaders, system, and amendments save lives, rebuild the future, and stabilize america as a whole. The bravery of our soldiers, the selflessness and the courage we so admire makes us simply heroic. Our flawless educational system and our rights to public schools are a gift to us all.
