“The Places I Feel Free” is my best essay but yet best Personal Essay. I think this is my best essay because this line really stood out to me “...and the whipping sound of net when you swish it” I think this really shows the Word Choice in the paragraph. Also I think it shows the Sentence Fluency. “My favorite food out there is a turkey sandwich and sweet corn right out of the field the sweet corn taste like a pound of awesomes in my mouth.” I think it shows Idea and Content. Overall I think that “The Places I Feel Free” shows good Ideas and Content, Word Choice, and Sentence Fluency.

The Places I Feel FREE

The best memories I remember as a kid are at the farm. In my childhood I felt FREE at the farm, grandma’s house, and outside.

Everyday we hear squeaking noise of my dump truck, sounds of the water hose, and the whipping sound of net when you swish it. When we go outside we 10’s, 20’s, and 30’s of cars pass by our house as me and my dad play. My dad cooks out every now and then and you can smell his amazing food. The taste of the food when it comes off the grill is delicious, my favorite personally is a sirloin steak.
When we go to my grandma’s house we always eat a meal at her house we always play with our two dogs. When we get there the dogs bark at us and the cars go by all day if we get a break of the cars it can be quiet. One day me and my sister were on the trampoline and I double bounce her and she flew threw the net and landed on her back. My grandma has a big field next to her house and it is a perfect spot to fly a kite on a windy day. My favorite food at my grandma’s house is grapes and watermelon straight out of the garden they are the most delicious and juiciest thing

While reading Dandelion Wine I really enjoyed being able to see these differences and similarities throughout the story. Some major aspects include family, technology, and safety. The Sanctuary of School The essay I chose to write was over the short article of “The Sanctuary of School” by Lynda Barry. In this story it talks about the author Lynda Barry’s experience with the school from a young age. She talks about growing up in a home with her mom and her dad having money issues, relatives that kept moving in, her brother and her sleeping on the couch, and the constant fighting going on. She explains how she didn’t feel safe at home so she talks about school being a safe haven for her, and how lucky she was that she had Mrs. LeSane and Mr. Gunderson.…

The two areas I felt confidently on were my comparisons of Woody Guthrie and John Steinbeck and my grammar. The reasons Guthrie and Steinbeck were similar were solid and cohesive. It was a different topic than any of the examples and I wanted to present an idea that was not hackneyed. There was an abundance of material that proved their similarities that I could explain. My grammar was also accurate and I feel it made the essay polished.…

Our Chinese Shar-pei didn't have a name when we picked him out from the shelter. The staff was calling him Wrinkle Face. It suited him. A good samaritan had found him walking along the side of the road and brought him in out of the bitter cold. His folded skin gave him the appearance of being draped in a brown burlap sack and he had a nose like a hippo.…

The Land of the Unfree The word “patriot” has changed in meaning throughout time; however it has always seemed to be defined as someone that vigorously supports their country. Within the last few decades terrorism has become a major issue and if it wasn’t for the creation of the USA Patriot Act in 2001, by President George W. Bush, we probably would have had a larger amount of terrorist attacks then we actually had. The Patriot Act has helped monitor foreign communications, as well as electronic communications in America.…

After receiving my grade and feedback I realized my sentences were choppy and not well put together. When I submitted my paper the second time not only did I receive a better grade but also a better understanding of what my papers should look like and what the content should include. I really enjoyed writing this paper, because it allowed me to write about something I have a passion for. I really enjoy writing narratives, but I believe the easiest and best paper I wrote in this class would be essay two. This is when we chose an advertisement and analyzed the details about it.…

Self-Evaluation Essay Little did I know that I was going to learn a lot more than I thought throughout the semester in ENGL 1433. I began the course dreading reading and writing. Despite these initial thoughts and preconceived notions, I did, for the most part, enjoy the class.…

I also remember making cookies for Santa and seeing my family members dressed up as him.
