"Sarah! Give me my phone back!" I yelled after her. I stopped running and said to my mom "Sarah took my phone again." I heard the back door in the kitchen slam and I knew that she was already running out into the woods to hide by the creek.
"That's your problem now Joseph." She replied shaking her head. I decided just to let her hide until she got bored and came home. I grabbed my book and laid down on my bed. I was reading "The Best of Edgar Allen Poe" by Edward Blake. I was currently reading "The Pit and the Pendulum. I reread it multiple times. Trying to understand it was giving me a headache so I put the book down. I instinctively reached for my phone on my bedside table before I remembered that Sarah took it. "Wait a minute, how long has she been gone?" I thought. I checked my watch. It was 9:00pm and she ran off at 3:00!

I set the table for two and cooked spaghetti. After we ate dinner I cleared the table and did the dishes as mom did paperwork for her job. Every time I see mom working I think about my dad. He was forty five and died when one of the machines malfunctioned and exploded. After I finished with the dishes I went up to my room and continued reading. I gave up on the Pit and the Pendulum and read the Tell-Tale Heart. None of Poe's work made any sense to me so I put the book in my car to drop off at the library tomorrow. I turned sixteen on March eighth. I went back inside, thankful to get out of the cold and went to
