Stories are told different ways after every generation, and that goes the same for fairy tales. Throughout time the main concept never changes, only by a slight bit. At first glance, Straparola story The Pig King would have nothing to do with the modern day adaption of Beauty and the Beast. However, the concept of the story is basically the same throughout, and these similarities lead me to believe that the, oh so famous, movie Beauty and the Beast originated from this tale. The symbolism throughout each story intertwines and creates one powerful theme about beauty.

The animal like appearance symbolize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it also symbolizes that you have look inside a person to discover who they are. The animal like appearance made the men behave like actual animals at a time, and made it harder for their counterparts to love them. The life of the beast was tied to a rose, given to him by a witch, and once the last petal was shed so will the life of the beast. The pig king had nothing tying his life to anything, and that’s very different from the modern version adaptation.
Beauty is a very important symbolism throughout both of the stories. Bell and the youngest sisters were both more beautiful than their sisters, and the villagers around them. The Beast was turned into a hideous monster because he would not help an old, wretched hag who knock on her door. The Pig kings first two wives were so vain, and only cared about beauty that it became their downfall in the end. The moral behind both stories is to look beyond what you see, and always give a person a chance no matter what they look

He is trusted by the inhabitants of Narnia to lead them out of the Witch’s evil rule. The fact that C.S. Lewis was expressing his opinions and showing the value of trust in the story through the characters is shown in my interpretation of the several events in the…

He is a leader, He is relentless. He is thoughtful. That is why I admire Piggy the most.…

I can support this inference with multiple text details. First of all the pigs force the other animals to work for them, while they themselves do nothing. The pigs also lie to the other animals at almost all times, only to benefit themselves. They live like kings, while the other animals barely survive in stalls with minimal amounts of food. At the end of the book the pigs craft the ultimate rule “ All animals are equal but some animals are MORE equal”…

Growing up, the pig would begin to develop the same attributes and aspects to those of a wild pig. To his perspective it appeared normal for him to develop these sort of odd characteristics because these normal habits are due to his ignorance of the reality of the life of a normal human being. Driven by his desire to marry a beautiful wife, the pig believed his appearance would be overshadowed by his true identity underneath his awful, filthy skin. However, the pig’s unpleasant acts of affection would not please his bride.…

According to the Grimms Brothers version of Cinderella, one can conclude that people have to earn their place in society. Specifically for Cinderella, she has to cater to her step-mother and step-sisters. “Every day she got up before daybreak to carry water, start the fire, cook, and wash” (117). Cinderella had to do everything while, on top of that, had to deal with the two step-sisters trying to find every possible way to make Cinderella’s life even more challenging.…

Most of the animals in the novel match either a personality type or social standing during the Russian Revolution. The communists, who followed Stalin’s tyrannical ways, were “twist[ing] the language to distort and deceive” to not only their own people, but others in the Democratic West (ix). Napoleon, personified Stalin, and then Squealer, a parallel to the Soviet Union newspaper, were mirror images of the beliefs of the communists. The pigs’ intelligence was superior to the other animals causing them to persuade the animals into the beliefs of “animalism,” which was “a dangerously alien form of ‘socialism’” (viii).…
