The Theory of the Physiological Effect in Young Goodman Brown That His Wife Faith Plays on Brown. In the short story Young Goodman Brown, Brown comes to the realization of what his faith has in store for him. Brown does not expect his wife to have such an impact on his life decisions he has to make. The wife effects browns actions through out the passage by leading him to question his Faith religiously, and also help him realize what he has became. Faith, Browns wife can be the decision of which route Young Goodman takes. Although Faith doesn’t make Brown do anything in particular she leads him in the wrong direction by the choices she makes in his dream. Hawthorne’s physiological effect of his wife Faith in Young Goodman Brown is that she not only plays the role of his wife, but also she represents his actual faith in his religion.

It mentions Faith going to the coven this is a group of witches, this relates to the author because his grandfather was actually a judge during the witchcraft trails. So in the short story when he mentions Faith is at the coven it is a disappointment and makes him question what she is doing there. This is one way that faith effect Young Goodman Brown. It makes him fell a certain way and wonders if his faith could be trusted. He realizes that he is changing into something he doesn’t want to be. Because Brown loves his Faith seeing that the devil can take over hurts him miserably. Not only does the devil use his wife Faith as prey to get Brown he also uses other close friends. Although Brown cares for these people it shocks him to see his wife. The Author states, “’Faith! Faith!’ Cried the husband. “Look up to heaven, and resist the Wicked One!”” in order to show the reader we can fall into
