Reflection Of A Physical Education Teacher

Improved Essays
Stereotypes from past experiences as well as the media have almost formed how most individuals view a physical education teacher. Most people have an idea of what a “good” phys-ed teacher and also what a “bad” phys-ed teacher should be like. Personally, a good physical education teacher should be athletic, a good leader or role model, a strong communicator, confident in their abilities, motivational, organized, creative, and enthusiastic. There are plenty other characteristics that a phys-ed teacher could possess that make them a great teacher, however only these will be touched on. On the other hand a few undesired characteristics that could make a phys-ed teacher seem bad are: mean, bad with people skills, condescending, temperamental, …show more content…
Starting with my strengths, I have always been athletic as I grew up playing almost every sport and acquired enough skills to do well in most other activities that may be new to me. I have assumed leadership roles on most of my sports team at one time or another, and in a number of projects at school. I do not see this as a huge strength at this time because my experience in leading as a teacher is fairly limited. However I hope to change this throughout this year with my multiple experiences in this class and others. Communication skills are something that can always be worked on and improved. I feel like my ability to listen is far superior to my ability to express myself verbally although I am comfortable with talking in front of large groups of people. Another strength I have is that I am good at keeping an optimistic look on things, it takes a lot to get me into a negative state of mind. I think keeping positive would come in handy when working with the students when developing new skills as it would keep them positive and they would continue to keep trying and that could be what they need to succeed. Lastly, I try to live a healthy active lifestyle myself. To me this is essential when teaching physical education as it would be hard to get the point across of teaching healthy habits and how to live a healthy active lifestyle if you yourself do not follow

I am fairly good at meeting new people, my peer students, because I believe I can be outgoing, friendly and easy to talk to. I also believe another strength was being involved within campus. I am the president of emotion, member of CAC, and mentor in Moving Forward Together. When my peer students had questions about joining clubs I could offer them my experiences in these different clubs or provide them with someone that was in a club they were interested. Another example of a strength is knowing where places are.…

One strength I agree is, Jack-Of-All-Trades, this means with my strategic mind and analytical capabilities, I can analyze everything and eventually figure it out along with fix whatever life throws at me. Determination, if a project or assignment interest me, I will excel and probably go beyond on it, but this is only if I take an interest in it. General things that interest me is engineering things, science related projects (NOT biology), and problem solving whether it be law, math, science, or strategy. Another relatable strength would be independence; I do not like relying on others since I generally give little trust to most people. In a group the project the only way I can be 100% sure it is finished, is by doing the work myself.…

Response to Lauren It is very true that it is always easier to write about something you know well, like about your life and personal experiences. When the topic is not familiar to students, then they need to do research to stimulate their writing. It is important to show ELLs how to do research and how to use it, so students start getting more confident and less scare about a blank paper. Response to Ana Villanueva I am happy that my students in physical education class are not the only ones that complain about writing in class that is not English language arts.…

I might not be first in my class, or I might not always get the best grades in the class, but I always have that determination to work hard to be the best that I can possibly be. When I wake up in the morning and look at myself in the mirror, I always want to be able to tell myself that I will and have done the best that I can. Another strength of mine would have to be that I am well organized. I like to have all my academic school work organized, which I believe also helps me cope with time management. Being well organized, makes getting my school work done efficiently and due on time possible by knowing when my assignments are due, and where my assignments are, rather than losing track of my work which may take extra time out of my day to find that information, which ultimately gives myself less time to study and get the most out of my education.…
