How important is home to us as people? In Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”, the title character’s concept of home is an important part of his personality. Hamlet characterizes home as his physical home, Denmark, and emotional home, his relationship with his mother and father. The confusion in his concept of home caused by the events of the play, leading to the “mental instability” observed by his parents and the distrust they feel towards him. The confusion and instability serves to show implicitly that Hamlet finds home significant to his life.
