The Phoenix: A Bird In Greek Myth

The phoenix, was a bird in Greek history mythology. It was as large or largest than an eagle, and had red and gold feathers. Only one phoenix existed at any time and it was always male. The greek writers said he lived to be 400 years old. When the life cycle of the Phoenix came to a close he would gather wood and other burnable items and light herself on fire. Out of the ashes, a new Phoenix would arise. The new Phoenix would then carry the ashes of his father the sun god. Because of the long lifespan of the Phoenix and his rebirth From the Ashes, she symbolize immortality and rebirth. Him was also said to symbolize the raising and setting of the Sun.
