Why Do Some People Oppose Capital Punishment

Many people support the death penalty while others oppose it. Throughout history there have been many controversies on the topic of capital punishment. There are many arguments that oppose the use of capital punishment. There is also debate over whether the death penalty fulfills the philosophies of punishment. Death penalty is one of the most controversial topics out there because of how many people oppose of it and how many people support it. Those who oppose capital punishment find it to be immoral for someone’s life to be taken away because of how its handles. And those to support death penalty find it right for the law to take action on criminals who committed murder or other serious crimes. Where does the hostility and ignorance stop once it begins? Murder is unaccepted by society, yet people seem to relieve themselves by killing criminals. Is that not considered to be murder? Sentencing a criminal to death does not solve the conspiracies and problems that are left behind. If statistics seem to show that crimes rates are either increasing or not making any difference through deterrence, it does not make sense to kill criminals as a form of punishment. If people would want to get revenge or payback from a person who did them wrong why not leave them in a prison where they will suffer everyday rather than killing them making the punishment fit the crime as retribution suggests. Leaving them in prison with a guilty concise to think about everyday of the crime they have committed will be much better then kill them. Our 8th amendment prohibits the federal government from imposing excessive bail, excessive fines, or cruel and unusual punishment. Why not follow the steps as our founding fathers, to a peaceful
