Views of Ownership The philosophical term “ownership” can be viewed in a variety of ways. There’s the ownership of an object, your own perception of self, a hobby or passion, and even a certain feeling that you may own. All of these forms of ownership take part in defining who you are. Ownership is not only crucial to a person’s character or sense of self, but is dependent on the evolution of one’s self. Depending on what kind of a person someone strives to become, that someone may choose different things to own in order to evolve the way they choose. In my life, I have chosen to evolve more and more as an artist. Not only an artist in the sense of being a musician, poet, dancer, photographer, or creator of art itself, but an artist as a whole. Evolving can be a never-ending cycle when allowed, but you are in control of how much you evolve. When defining who you are, these valuable possessions are imperative. One of the most important items that I own is my journal. Inside my journal, my mind wanders free. I record dreams that I want to remember, aesthetics that come to mind, paintings, dried flowers, memories, and more. My journal is one of the most uplifting ways I can express myself without others seeing. Other special objects that I possess are my own creations including my artwork, room decorations, and my jar of thoughts and dreams. Around my room, my artwork and little decorations are hung up in random places. My jar of thoughts and dreams is filled with sayings that I decided to separate from my journal.
