The year 5 that I worked with were just at the beginning phase of associative learning when they started the day playing football. Associative learners understand the basic skills of the game and the rules they can do the skill but need feedback and can self correct a little bit, they can stay in this stage for a long time and it is necessary to get lots of practice to move on. Throughout the morning they developed their skills, when they started they understood the basics of the game and the rules that applied to football but they just need to practice and strength those skills as the games progressed they steadily improved and with some more practice they would gradually …show more content…
On the muscular involvement continuum passing a football on the run would be considered a gross motor skill as it involves your whole body and large muscle groups to kick the ball as well as running with it, whereas fine motor skills require small muscle movements, precision and accuracy for example throwing a dart. On the continuity continuum passing a football would be considered a serial motor skill as it involves a discrete skill kicking the ball to a team mate which has a clear beginning and end and a continuous skill which would be the repetitive movement of running, whereas a discrete skill has a clear beginning and end for example a handball in footy and a continuous skill is a skill that is a repetitive movement with no clear beginning middle and end that can go on for as long as the athlete likes. On the difficulty continuum passing a football on the run in a game I would classify it as in the middle of both complex and simple as it involves lots of cues and elements as well as lots of quick decision making because it is in a game but also is quite a simple skill to master and easy to perform. Whereas a very simple skill has few cues and if any then small decisions that aren’t pressed for time for example a pitch in softball the pitcher has no pressure as to when the opposition may choose to swing as it doesn’t affect them. Complex and simple skills can also be relative to the athlete someone who has never played softball before my still find pitching to be difficult even when there are few skills because they have never played it before someone who plays football
