Pharmacist is defined as healthcare professional whose job is to prepare and sell the drugs and medicines that a doctor prescribes for patients. Some aspects of pharmacy has been, constant- unchanged over a long time period of time. The first college of pharmacy in the United States was founded in 1821 as the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Many colleges followed after. No information was found about the establishment of the first pharmacy school in Mexico. Currently, there is eleven pharmacy schools in California and one-hundred thirty nine pharmacy schools in the United States. In Mexico, there is only four pharmacy schools. The Majority of the pharmacy schools in the United States award a PharmD. degree for the graduating pharmacists, …show more content…
program at the UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical is four years in time. The first of the program is mostly focused on teaching the student pharmacists the basic of biology and chemistry. The courses include Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Histology, and Human Anatomy. The student will also take a yearlong courses of Pharmaceutics where they learn about the basics of Pharmackinetics and Dosage forms. Also students will learn the basics of Biostatics, Study design, and Pharmacy Law. Finally the students will take a yearlong of Pharmacy Practice where they learn the basics OTC medications and the skills needed to counsel patients on the proper use of medications. The first of pharmacy school in the United Unites prepares the students pharmacists to work as interns while still being students. The B.S in Pharmacy program at the University Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) is five years in time. Similarly to the pharmacy program at UCSD, the students at UMSNH learn a great deal of basic science in the first year. The courses the students take are: mathematics, linear algebra, physical chemistry, physics, and inorganic chemistry. It worth noting that most of these courses are taken by the pharmacy students in their pre-pharmacy
