Halyn Nahum Quinlan liked her name. It fit her personality perfectly. Halyn for her unique personality, Nahum for her comforting nature, and Quinlan for her strength. Hayln never understood her older brother, Allister’s name. It meant the protector and helper, which he was neither. Her mother’s name, Anidita, meant blameless, while her dad’s name, Placido, meant quiet. Anidita fit her mother, since she never seemed to do anything wrong. Her father’s name fit him as well, he always allowed himself to be outspoken by everyone, but when he did have something to say, people listened. Halyn was the only one of the family to have a middle name. This was because of Nahum, Anidita’s favorite foster father. Anidita had lost her mother and father to a fire when she had only been a baby. She had bounced from foster home to foster home, until she met Nahum, who later adopted her. She was about fifteen when she was placed in his home, and was in the middle of a rebellious …show more content…
She loved flitting from friend group to friend group. She loved making new friends, and she never was rude to people. She seemed to have the perfect life. She had good grades, was in a lot of clubs, and played badminton. Everyday she would race home, finish her homework easily, and race to the courts, refining and improving her skills in badminton. Badminton season at school is now only a month away. She was excused from conditioning, because once the coaches had heard of how much she practiced outside of school, they knew she didn 't need it. Plus, she just didn’t have time. Everyone talked about how she was destined to be varsity, even though she was only a freshmen. Whenever she heard this she would brush it off, saying that there were much more upperclassman that were better than her. But then, during the practice on the days people said this, she would push herself past her limit. She desperately wanted to be varsity, even if she didn’t think she was good
