“ HIV is an illness which alters the immune system, making people more vulnerable to infections and disease. People can get infected with HIV/AIDS when they have unsafe contact with body fluids.” (Medical News Today) Unfortunately, this disease still spreads, especially in Africa, but not at the rate as it did before. Therefore, we still have a duty to educate people how they can prevent getting aids. As a result of religious beliefs and a lack of money, or in case of rape, a condom isn’t used much in this region. However, this is the only way to will protect people from getting infected with HIV. Sadly, rape is a daily occurrence, especially in areas where there are a number of conflicts. An article posted on the United Nations website states the following: ”In the past two decades HIV/AIDS has emerged in conflict zones, women and young girls are being raped and hold hostage by soldiers abusing them as they please. Proper nutrition is critical, especially in the early stages of the child because the brain is developing, and the child has to learn new stuff every day. When the brain doesn’t get the proper nutrition, “ micronutrients such as iron, iodine, vitamin A, folate and zinc affect nearly one-third of the world 's population, and the consequences can be devastating.” (IMMPaCt) Without those micronutrients, it is harder for the brain to retain crucial information needed during the rest of the child 's life. This can give learning disabilities. If a child can’t learn well, his future will not be too bright. The following bar charts, I found on the who.it website shows the following. Globally, fewer children below the age of five are underweight when you compare the timeframe 1990 and 2013. However, we still have not achieved the target, especially in the African and the Southeast Asian region.
That’s why it is essential to continue the education in the underdeveloped and developed countries about the importance of breastfeeding, nutrients, and healthy diets.
