The definition of bildungsroman is a novel dealing with one person’s formative years or spiritual education. The presentation made by Mr. Ford states that bildungsroman is a literary genre that focuses on the psychological and moral growth of the protagonist form youth to adulthood. In other words, the character is coming of age in the book. Even though bildungsroman is not commonly known genre, it is used in literature because The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Outsiders, and The Giver are all examples of Bildungsroman.
