Although this movie had some good components such as Leah being a successful, independent, black woman and Carter exemplifying the role of prince charming, it was too predictable. I would say about twenty minutes into the movie one could have fallen asleep, woke up, and still be able to tell you what happened. Carter knew all the right words to say and all the right things to do. When we think about at a title of a movie such as “The Perfect Guy”, we automatically start to think this movie will be about a guy who will end up not being so perfect after all. Although he was one of the main characters, he quickly became more of a background character. He was no longer the focus. The ending also surprised me in reference to his character. I don’t agree with how the director played him out. I love happy endings and was almost sure things would turn out much differently in the end. I did appreciate how the director allowed for Dave to not turn his back on Leah after what happened between them.
There was definitely a lesson to be learned from this movie such as getting to know a person first before allowing them into your life. We find ourselves in situations all the time when it comes to relationships and of course would love to find the “perfect guy”, but this is one “perfect guy” I hope I never meet. I enjoyed watching this movie, however, I wish I didn’t have to leave the comfort of my own home to go see it. If I had to rate this movie I would give it three
