He picked the pearl from the dying flesh and held it in his palm, and he turned it over and saw that the pearl was perfect” (Steinbeck 19). This shows that his perspective of him and his family is changing. When he says that “the dream forms” he means that he can see his family in a better life, and it seems that he would do anything to achieve this new life (shown later in the book). Before he thought he and his family were just fine without much money but his perspective is starting to change. “I used to have a knotty headed boy just like you”(Myers 21), “ i traveled around and one time i come home, and there was this letter saying Jesse got killed in the war, it broke my heart it truly did”(Myers 25). Greg is listening to Lemon Brown, becoming grateful that he isn't going through the same situation as Lemon Brown, or Jesse. His perspective about his father is starting to change. This proves that they are getting new ideas and eventually lead them into trouble, or

Through denying Cory a chance to play football in college, Troy has ambitions for his son to succeed, while simultaneously trying to avert him from having the same experience he went through in sports. My favorite story of this year was “The Treasure of Lemon Brown”. The reason why it was my favorite was because it shows us how something that costs nothing and looks bad could be so valuable to someone and how it means something important to one. The genre of this story is short story. The charters in the story are Lemon Brown, Greg, Greg’s dad, and the robbers that tried to steal Lemon Brown’s treasure. In the story the robber says “Where’s his gold?…

The Great Gatsby and The Pearl, two great American novels, both depict men who struggle with ambition. Kino, a poor pearl-diver, stumbles upon a great fortune and quickly loses focus because of his greed. Jay Gatsby, an extraordinarily rich New Yorker, searches in vain for the one love that could fulfill all of his desires. One is from the slums of Mexico, the other from upper-class America. Both, however, exemplify human nature and the powerful force of greed.…
