The Importance Of Time Log

It was just too difficult to drop what I was doing and record it (even though it only took at second). What it almost always boiled down to was me racking my brain at the end of the day to figure out what I had down and when I had done it. It was difficult for me to see any distinct patterns because every day is unique, but after looking closely at what I was doing at different times, I began to see patterns in my day to day behavior. The most intriguing thing that jumped out at me was at what time of day I was most productive; I tended to work the most …show more content…
The principle thing I need to improve upon in regards of my time management is that I need to make short and mid-range plans. With my current schedule (or lack thereof) all my work gets delegated to one day while the rest are completely free. This is extremely inefficient. A more effective means of working would be to carve out slots to work on a specific assignment as soon as you receive the assignment. This is helpful in a number of ways. First and foremost, it prevents creating unnecessary stress by counting entirely on completing something in one session. Secondly, I will be able to revisit my work with a “clean slate” allowing my mind to stay fresh so that I can approach an assignment with a new perspective. Lastly, planning out my short to mid-range goals allows me to complete them in a more efficient manner, and protects me against any mishaps from interfering with getting my work in on time. By working for short periods on different days I will be less likely to get distracted, and will be truly working for the entire time. Another major problem that I need to solve is my inability to work on the weekends. I know myself and realize I will never be studious over the weekend, but just by taking two to three hours out of my weekend I can greatly reduce the load of work that I have during the week. The final issue with my schedule is that I do not have any set

Nonetheless, I believe I still have room for improvement. One major way I could refine my skills is to start using my planner. Although I write my plans on a whiteboard, I think it would be beneficial to have them written on something that I can carry with me throughout the day. This would allow me to refer to it as often as needed. Even though, according to LASSI, time management is not something I need to spend a lot of time working on, I believe improving this skill will help me be successful in not only in college, but also in…

Another detail that I noticed was that adding all of my assignments to a calendar and looking at them from a weekly and monthly perspective illustrated to me that I am not using my time wisely, planning effectively, and doing as much work as I should be so that I do not struggle unnecessarily. Ultimately, this action plan was helpful in highlighting that it is possible to complete the assignments given to me without excessive levels of stress if I follow my new…
