In the beginning of the movie we find out that Benjamin is a war hero turned pacifist due to the death of his wife. He has to raise 7 kids on his own and still tend to his farm with his children’s help , of course,. When they go to charlestown Gabriel spots a militia sign up sheet and says that he wants to join but his father forbids him to. Gabriel goes against his father’s command and signs up anyway. Fast forward to a year later Gabe comes back to the plantation seriously wounded with the militia with him. The next morning the Redcoats invade their plantation and kill everyone of the militia people and have Gabe arrested and sentenced to be hung and they burn down the house. When they are taking Gabe the 2nd oldest son gets angry and runs …show more content…
Afterwards they go back to the special hiding place and Gabriel tells his father of his engagement of his childhood friend and they get married that day. Also all the militia goes there to see their family and at first Ben’s youngest daughter ran away from Ben but when he was about to leave she said papa and told him that she didn’t want him to go so he promised her that he would come back alive. A couple days after the militia leaves the Redcoats burn the whole village that Gab’s wife lives in and she is killed along with the rest of the village. After the militia finds out they ambush the Redcoats camp and while facing the head general Gabriel, sadly, gets and Ben and the other militia gets there too late and he already took off. About two days later the militia go to war with the regular soldiers and when they go into battle Ben waves the flag that his son Gabriel had fixed and everybody gets excited and fired up and ready to fight hard and Benjamin sees the guy that killed both of his sons and they fight a tough battle and Ben ends up killing him, even though he took a substantial amount of
