Relevant or Irrelevant? Is The movie the Patriot somewhat accurate to history? Yes because the filmmakers make it their own. The Patriot is about a young farmer who was a dad named Benjamin Martin. Once his wife got killed, he had children to take care of. One his middle-aged son died and was shot by Tavington he went with the patriots and fought with them and so did his eldest son. They went on an adventure and in the war that is what the real patriots did. At the end, Tavington was killed, General Cornwallis Surrendered and Patriots won. Therefore, the movie The Patriot is somewhat accurate because of the events that happened in history and in the movie.

In the movie The Patriot, Benjamin Martin was a dad that had 6 kids. Martin was a Patriot and didn’t like the British meaning he was 100% patriot. Benjamin Martin was very confident and he was willing to risk his life to stand up for the Patriots. In History, Benjamin Martin wasn’t a person he was based off of …show more content…
In the movie, Colonel Burwell was behind the rise instead of in a position to fight.Colonel Tavington died at the end of the movie. Benjamin Martin took the flag through the fight. According to The Film Fact or Fiction: People, Colonel Tarleton didn’t die he survived and returned to England. It states that,”Colonel Tarleton retreated to the fight and fought the Patriots”. The website says,”Although some complain that the climactic unnamed battle shown in the film is a completely inaccurate interpretation of the Battle of Cowpens by the filmmakers, this is not so. First of all, the filmmakers admit that the second battle is not completely historically true to Cowpen or Guilford Courthouse, another battle from which they borrowed”. This means that the other battles in the movie wasn’t really important until the end where the Battle of Cowpens showed up and they started fighting for
