The Patient Protection and Affordable care Act also known as the Affordable Care Act is the new health care reform law in America also called Obamacare. This Law was passed by congress and signed into law by President Obama on March 23,2010. According to the Democratic Policy and Communication center, This law “will ensure that all Americans will have access to quality, affordable health care and will create the transformation within the health care system necessary to contain costs”(DPC 2014). This law contains nine titles, addressing different components of the reform. “The Affordable Care Act puts consumers back in charge of their health care. Under the law, a new “Patient’s Bill of Rights” gives the American people the stability and flexibility they need to make informed choices about their health”.

There are many challenges facing this legislation and we will discuss a few. The first challenge that this legislation faces is getting people to enroll in these private insurance plans. The law projected that millions of people would sign up for these new insurance plans but according to “the Department of Health and Human services”, only 365,00 people have obtained private coverage through the new marketplaces. These new insurance marketplaces need enough healthy people enrolling and paying to offset the medical cost of the sick.Another challenge that is facing this legislation is insurance companies using other ways to dissuade ill patients…
