Many people have different ambitions in life so the word ambition would have different definitions, depending on whom you ask. Ambition is defined as a strong desire to do or achieve something (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.). Ambition helps us map out paths for success in our personal, family, or professional lives. Ambition also teaches resilience. When problems occur, ambitious people find a way around them. Ambition is related to dedication, motivation and time. Ambition is a characteristic of human nature. Ambition is often associated with negative characteristics such as greed, intolerance, and the drive for power. Ambition can be a driving force for success, or in some cases a road to failure. Rudy (film) is one good example of a good ambition. Rudy (protagonist) has always been told that he was too small to play college football. Just about everybody else told him that he didn’t have the brains, talent, or what it takes to make it into a top school like Notre Dame. Rudy persists. Despite of having bad grades and no money, Rudy sets out on a goal and effort to achieve the seemingly impossible or to fulfill his dream of playing for Notre Dame. His ambition to play football at Notre Dame motivated him to work harder. Rudy decides not to let anybody push him around anymore or tells him that he could not do it. He begins on a hard journey to achieve his goal. Even with the obstacles that he has encounter, Rudy is eventually admitted to Notre Dame and surprisingly help the team bring victory on the final kickoff. A story like that or someone who have an ambition like Rudy would motivate and inspire people to believe in themselves, to never give up, to work hard, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t do
