Humanity has been known to go to great lengths to achieve social change. Over 17,000 people were killed in the French Revolution. There are multiple reasons why social change occurs, however, they all tend to follow the same pattern. The historical focus will be on multiple revolutions during the enlightenment era and the literary focus will be on The Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez.
