Introduction The path into becoming a nurse was a very confusing process for me. Since there are three entry levels of nursing, the bachelors science nursing (BSN) degree route, the associates degree (AND) route, and the diploma in nursing, which is basically a hospital based nursing school (Black, 2010, p. 60). After observing my options and doing research of the three different programs I decided to attend an AND program at Keiser University. The reason I went this route, was because in two years of education it permitted me start working in the clinical setting as a nurse. The American Nurse Association continues to promote that the baccalaureate degree is the entry degree (American Nurse Association, 2010B), therefore I am continuing school to obtain my BSN, in order to advance academically and further increase my critical thinking skills. My ultimate goal is to obtain a graduate level degree in Nurse Anesthesia, therefore I am creating this professional development plan as guidance towards my professional future.
Educational and Personal Background
In 2004 I graduated from high school. Started working for Wyndham Resorts as a contract processor. While working I started assisting Valencia College, on December 2008 I earned an Emergency Medical Technician degree, and later in September 2009, I earn an Associate in Arts in General Studies, from 2011-2012, I embark into taking nursing prerequisites classes.
