Many churches today do not preach Christ. Some preach politics or philosophy. Others preach that we need to help and love our neighbor. Some preach against war, poverty and crime . Others preach religion . Man trying to reach God their way. Paul was different to all of them. He encouraged timothy and Titus to preach Christ. The only hope for men is found in the Son of God Jesus Christ.
Some pastors or ministers only preach the Gospels or Psalms or other favorite passages. There are many parts of the word of God which they don 't preach about. Others preach continually about salvation, but do not help people understand how to live a Christian life. John 3:16 is an amazing verse, but in the bible there 's more than John 3:16. If God wanted us to just know John 3:16 only, than our bible would be very small. Paul asks Timothy to preach the whole bible. If someone is to preach the word then he is to study the whole word of truth from God . In 2 Tim 3:16 says "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness". A lot of churches have men that call themselves bishops, others call themselves directors. Do the pastoral letters say that there should be bishops and directors in the church?
1 Tim 3:12 says "Let the deacons be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well."
Also in 1 Tim 5:17 says "Let the ELDERS that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and doctrine"
There are many other things that are practiced in the church that are not mentioned in this letters; likewise a lot of the things that are mentioned do not get practiced in today 's church . Why is it like this?
A good pastor has to practice what he preaches otherwise people would say "Your acts are speaking so loud that we can barely hear what you 're saying".
He should preach the truth and live the truth. Timothy was instructed to take care not only of the doctrine he was preaching but also of his testimony to others. In (1 Tim 4:2-Titus 2:7). Timothy was told to be an example to the believers so they would look at him and say "that what a believer should be".
