The assignment for unit four has asked that I write a paper outlining some of the key highlights and notable points about the profession that I have chosen to pursue. The more I study and review the career field of a Healthcare Administration, the more excited I get about the possibilities that potentially await me. There are many different types of work that a person could get into with this particular field, but I am going to focus mainly on the Healthcare Administrator field as it pertains to a hospital or clinic. When a person chooses the vocation of Healthcare Administrator they have basically accepted a lifestyle that will for a time require a tremendous amount of time and effort in order to be successful. This person will spend long hours in the office completing all types of paperwork for regulatory items and then after they leave the office, go to a community function and promote their organization.…

Most little girls dream of being a ballerina when they grow up, I was the little girl who dreamed of medical school. Anyone who was brave enough to ask got my vehement no when asked if I thought that the college, subsequent medical school, and training would be too much school or that I would get bored. I decided very early that to be a doctor was one of the most exciting things that a person could chose to be and my fantastic pediatrician was the initial spark for this love of medicine. The care that I could see him exhibit in his daily operations as well as the ease at which he interacted with patients and parents alike inspired me. His knowledge was fascinating and I longed to have that level of understanding of the human body.…

My passion for occupational therapy began when I first realized I wanted to better understand those that were not as fortunate as what society would call the norm. Within my family, two young male cousins have been diagnosed with autism. I wanted to better understand what type of therapy they were receiving. I only knew of one, physical, but when I was given the opportunity to view an occupational therapist at work, it allowed me to discover the path I needed to help those in need. Though, my initial degree plan was to enter the nursing program, I yearned to learn more about Occupational Therapy.…

Why is this? For the effective management of any healthcare organization, I recognize the need to be in touch with the followers. Through a transformational leadership approach, I will be able to motivate my followers to effect any changes that are needed in the healthcare sector. I prefer to be a transformational leader since I believe in the virtues that are emphasized by the theory. For example, the transformational leadership theory requires that its leaders be persons who are trustworthy, honest and active listeners to their followers (Weng, Huang, Chen, & Chang, 2015).…
“Employees who believe that management is concerned about them as a whole person – not just an employee – are more productive, more satisfied, more fulfilled. Satisfied employees mean satisfied customers, which leads to profitability” (Adams, 2015, p. 101). Mulcahy was selected by as one of America 's Best Leaders in 2008. Although, this quote reflects her experience as Xerox CEO, a Fortune 500 company, it has strong implication for the business of health care. When the organization or corporation is a health authority, hospital, and/or some other health care service facility, the impact is of more considerable importance because the positive effects not only impact the employees of the health care facility but also enhance the delivery of…
