As the sky darkened, the murky clouds rapidly rolled in and it was clear my family and I as well as the other visitors would soon be stranded on the island. The thunder, lightning, and heavy rain was swiftly moving towards shore and the island’s visitors were hastily running for shelter. Among all the frantic people; toddlers were weeping, intoxicated people were swearing, and it seemed as if everyone was murmuring their dissatisfaction in the evacuation process. As the storm slowly passed, the overpowering aroma of the surrounding forest seemed to silence the massive screeching seagulls. The park rangers attempted to keep everyone calm, but with all the chaos going on, the main focus of the three hundred visitors was their departure off …show more content…
Overly eager to leave the house bright and early to begin a fun filled day everything needed for a day at the beach was packed the night before. As my family and I left the house full of excitement, there was no traffic on the highway to ruin our eagerness. Although the drive to Caladesi Island took less than two hours, the ride there felt as if it took forever. Every twenty minutes someone inside the car would ask the same question “Are we there yet?” Anticipating our arrival, I looked out the window of the car and saw nothing but a beautiful cloudless azure sky and the sun was shining bright like a diamond. Once we arrived to the state park, the beauty of nature was apparent. The sight of the trees and flowers was amazing. Some of the warning signs, however, were ominous; like the one that said watch out for snakes and the other that said shuffle your feet for sting rays. Once we were done taking pictures of the signs and trees we headed towards the ferry that took us over that would take us over? to Caladesi …show more content…
However, once my family and I departed off the ferry we all laughed and made jokes about the day. The car ride home was comical as we all made fun of the fact that we were literally stranded on an island all day long. It wasn’t until the next day that were able to see our trip to the beach in a completely different perspective. Instead of seeing our trip to Caladesi Island as a bad experience, we realized it gave us time to bond with each other transforming our view of the experience. All the time we spent at the island we were stuck in a close pack and shared jokes and stories together, something we haven’t done in forever. As we recalled our day stranded at the beach and wondered where we went wrong, we realized we did not check the weather before
