The Gospel of Luke introduces one of the most praised and extraordinary parables in the New Testament: The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15: 11-32). Of all the parables that Jesus narrated, the Prodigal Son is among the most heartbreaking and remembered teachings of Christ. The Parable of the Prodigal Son is extremely rich in meaning, especially in mercy. Mercy constitutes the center of Christian spirituality and of our life in Christ; it is a very clear and profound representation of the reality of the human being when he does not appreciate the goodness and love of God. The youngest son immediately realizes that without the love of the father, his surroundings become cold and merciless, he loses his dignity and respect for himself, and begins to fall so low that he even gets to eat everything he never imagined, his selfishness led him to almost lose everything, although he never losses the wisdom to know where his father was, a father that would welcome him with open arms.
Although, the conversion of the son brings consequences for his actions in the world, the greatest act of mercy is revealed through the father who always waits and gives forgiveness to those who seek reconciliation. The purpose of this writing is to interpret the message of mercy embedded in the invitation of the Parable of the Prodigal Son in the Gospel of Luke, to return to the father's house, to restart a new journey with God and to experience together with Him the joy of rediscovering the full meaning of the
