In this year alone, there have been kids saying the 'n' word impassively in literature class and then looking up at the black students, and a teacher who called the People of Color Club an "issue that promotes racial separation among the students and teachers". I was talking to a friend one day in class and she whispered to me, "if there is a black people club in the high school, why do we not have a white people club?" Some of these interaction make me self conscious at school because I feel as if I am not wanted in certain groups around campus. Others conversations open my eyes to how cluelessness my school community
