The authors acknowledged the significance of gaining a solid understanding of the PCMH model and its importance to the United States healthcare system. The research centered on studying the effects of adding a four-week PCMH rotation to an existing residency program to determine the year-3 resident’s PCMH knowledge and attitudes towards the model. The yearlong research sought feedback from the 39 residents participating in the study. Although many residency programs are implementing the PCMH model, evidence shows that curricula implementation differs among programs.
