In this essay I will talk about the novel “The Outsiders”, which was my favorite part, character, what I think about it and more. The Outsiders is a novel written by Susan Eloise Hinton in 1965 and the Viking Press publisher published it in 1967.
The Outsiders begins with Ponyboy Curtis, the narrator of the story, saying how his life being part of the greasers was and how all the people in thee gang where. But after this is when the story actually begins, when Pony, Johnny and Dally were leaving the drive-in movie theater with Cherry and Marcia, who where some socs they met there. My favorite part is when Pony, Dally, and Johnny saved those children. It is my favorite part because it shows how people, no matter how they look and no matter who they are they can also be good. That is the main reason why I began this essay with the quote from Martin Luther King, because I think this whole story is based on that quote.
The genre of this story is young-adult fiction. Also the story has been considered to be very controversial because of how it touches very delicate subjects as under age drinking and smoking, gang violence, robbery, murdering, and more. In fact, because of this many schools have banned this novel, but also many other schools have added it to the curriculum for middle and high school
