The Outsiders Persuasive Essay

Fight for what you believe in because in the end it can only make it better. In S.E. Hinton’s book, The Outsiders, there are six main characters:Ponyboy Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, Dallas Winston(Dally), Darrel Curtis(Darry), Keith Matthews(Two-Bit), and Johnny Cade. Two teen gangs; the Greasers, and the Socs are in a “turf war.” Johnny and Ponyboy are later jumped by the Socs ending in one of the Socs members death, Johnny and Ponyboy then went into hiding scared of getting caught. Soon the Greasers must contend with the consequences of their violent lives. While some Greasers try to achieve redemption, others meet tragic ends. In S.E Hinton's, The Outsiders, the Greasers fight for something that they believe in that brings purpose to their lives. In the beginning, Ponyboy was walking home from the movie theater and the Socs jumped him and pulled a blade , the Greasers came running chasing away the Socs. “I about decided I didn't like it so much, though, when I spotted that red Corvair trailing me” said Ponyboy. Ponyboy was nervous, but he still fought in the rumble because he believed in the Greasers. (Hinton online) This proves that all the Greasers need is each other and they are happy. The Greasers believed they could win the rumble and that is what helped them win. The Greasers fought for their turf and themselves. They were sick of the Socs always jumping them and judging them so they fought in the rumble. (Hinton online). In the end the Greasers must contend with the consequences of their violent lives. While some Greasers work on and achieve redemption others meet tragic ends. This was S.E Hinton's book The Outsiders theme. The Greasers achieved in fighting for themselves. No matter how much trouble they caused or what they did. They accomplished what was most important to them was staying a family and fighting for what they believed
