The Outsiders Compare and Contrast We read the book ¨The Outsiders¨ in class then we watched the movie. ¨The Outsiders¨ is about two groups the greasers and socs and none of them like each other and then one night two of the greasers get into something with the socs and one of the socs ends up dead so then the two greasers had to go hide somewhere so they would not get caught and put in jail. But out of the book and movie I overall prefered the book because it was way better by far. It was better for many reasons for example in the book they had a scene were after school Ponyboy ran into some socs and he threatened then with a broken bottle then when Pony passed out after Dally died and they also quite a bit of other scenes that were important …show more content…
And he was a friend of ours. We don´t like nobody killing our friends especially greasers¨ (148 Hinton) then after they said that ponyboy broke his pepsi bottle and threaten to ¨split¨ them if they do not leave so then they left and Two-Bit came up and said you would have really used that wouldn't you and he said I guess so Two-Bit told him that Ponyboy to not get tough because he was not like the rest of them. But in the movie it did not even have a scene like even though it was not that big of a scene they still should have included it because it showed Ponyboy that he should stay the way he is. In the book it also had when Dally got shot by the cops and died Ponyboy passed out because he got a concussion and after he woke up he had to rest for a week and when he woke up people from his school visited him then Randy did and Randy told him that they have to go to court. But then Randy said ¨Listen to me, Pony. You didn't do anything. It was your friend Johnny that had the knife..¨ Then Ponyboy said ¨I had the knife I killed Bod.¨ (135 Hinton) and he was also saying how Johnny was not dead even though he was he did not want it to be real so he was making himself believe he was gonna see him outside on the corner or something. But in the movie they skipped that part completely except for the Dally dying part and even though it was an important part because that is also when he got the copy of Gone in the Wind Johnny sent

In this scene Dally had just robbed a store. He got the cops on him ran to the vacant lot and then pulled out a gun at the police to commit suicide because he couldn't handle Johnny dieing. A similarity for when Dally got killed is that in both the book and movie they gave a lot of details on what happened, and where it took place. Some differences are that in the movie they took out a part of the scene where Pony faints I didn’t really like that, and I thought that the book was better for this scene because of how they described what everyone's reactions to Dally dying. The ( book ) was more effective during this scene because (the movie took parts out and didn’t show/describe the reactions…

Pony’s life is changed by when Dallas couldn’t take it. Near the end of chapter 9, they go visit Johnny in his final moments, until Johnny passed away “The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died” (Hinton 148). This made Dally furious, and bolted out to the car without Pony “He suddenly bolted through the door and down the hall” (Hinton 149). Pony then walked out and after hours of doing nothing, he was asked if Pony wanted a ride “I might have stumbled around all night except for a man who asked me if I wanted a ride.” (Hinton 151).…

But in the film, he began with Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally walking to the movies. The next difference from the beginning of the story was when Cherry asked Pony to go with her to buy some popcorn and drinks for the rest as in Johnny, Marcie, and the other two socs which also was a difference because those socs didn’t appear to talk to Cherry and Marcie. Next difference was inside the store to buy snacks and drinks there was happing an argument which wasn’t in the book as well. Third, difference was when Pony and Johnny were leaving to take Johnny to his house and both of them saw Johnny’s parents arguing. Which didn’t happen in the book, in the book Ponyboy and Johnny were at the lot before going to their houses.…

For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…

The socs are always jumping the greasers and beating them up but they never get caught because they have rich parents and are high up in society. It also gives insight into the true motives and feelings of people and how not everything is perfect, even for the people who seem to have it that way This book is told from the view point of a fourteen year old greaser named Ponyboy Curtis.…

Time and time again people come to the common question of, “Movies vs. books?” Many movies follow their books word for word whether its character development or plot development, whereas other movies change and twist the book’s stories in unimaginable ways, yet people are still faced with the question, “Movies or books?” An example of how books and movies can differ is in the story “The Outsiders” written by S. E. Hinton and produced by Francis Coppola. Although there are many similarities that both the book, The Outsiders, and the movie share, there were many noticeable differences in the appearance and personalities of all the characters. Three of the main characters, Pony, Johnny and Soda, will be reviewed in particular.…

In the book, Ponyboy is currently being jumped by Socs, and is completely defenseless until his fellow Greasers appear to help chase out the Socs. However, in the movie, we see Ponyboy and the rest of his little gang walking out of a movie theater, and start to get chased by Socs that were driving mustangs. In the book, Ponyboy is also descriptively describing the color of everyone’s eyes. This gives us an imagination to work with since…
