My favorite quote throughout the entire story was when Johnny told Ponyboy when he was dying to “Stay gold, Ponyboy… Stay gold.” The meaning of the word “stay gold” was to tell you to stay innocent for as long as you could. My opinion of the book was that the book was good, but it would give too much information for parts that were not important. My opinion of the movie was that it did a good job of just getting to the important parts of the story. I wish the movie would have been longer, but anyways I still liked the movie. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the movie was more effective in telling the story.

In the movie there was a lot of action and a lot of things going on so you could visualize what was going on and what was happening in the movie. One similarity from the book and the movie was when dally picked up PonyBoy and dragged him off to the side saying “Are you okay? Come on we’re going to go see Johnny.” One difference was when dally came running towards the rumble. In the book he came running towards the rumble saying: “Hold up!”. In the movie he came running down a hill shirtless yelling “Hey you know a rumble don’t start without me!” The movie was more effective during this scene because it was something you could watch and see what happens, also see what they do in the rumble.
