The Outsiders Movie Analysis

‘The Outsiders’ is a movie I found very enjoyable to watch. The movie had an excellent plot that effectively showed the theme of friendship. The plot was realistic and felt like it really happened, as well as not having a dramatic ending. For example, Ponyboy and his brothers didn’t have a favourable family situation and it wasn’t portrayed like they didn’t. Most movies would sugarcoat the reality and make Ponyboy seem happy and getting along with his brother without a hitch. The movie showed the stress and the toll it took on the brothers after their parents passed away. Darry and Ponyboy always had conflicting opinions, Darry had to work two jobs, and Sodapop had to work at a gas station. Also, when Johnny had severe injuries he passed away …show more content…
The members of the gang consider each other brothers and are always there for each other no matter what. They can trust each other to help them get out of tight situations like when Ponyboy was jumped. The movie was ended well because it ended calmly and wasn’t over dramatic, which I personally prefer. Although the Greasers were still mourning after the loss of their friends, they still moved on like more people would instead of making a scene. The foreshadowing in the movie was also executed well, making the movie more interesting. In the book, the reader can’t be certain about what caused the fire in the church because of the lack of information even though Ponyboy says he thinks it was a cigarette that started the fire. In the movie, the camera zooms into a lit cigarette in Johnny’s hand as he dropped the cigarette when he was dozing off, foreshadowing the church fire. There was incredible character development throughout the movie. Johnny began to understand and appreciate life more and became stronger mentally. Johnny was talking about wanting to kill himself when he was in the empty lot with Ponyboy and he thought his life wasn’t worth

“Stay golden ponyboy.” That means that Ponyboy should stay good and not do bad things. I thought the book was okay because it wasn’t really detailed like the movie because the movie had more action about the rumble or when dally robs a store and gets shot or even when Johnny dies. The movie was really detailed. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the Movie was more effective in telling the story.…

Some of the similarities was that the movie had some of the same exact lines from the book such as, “I got a good chance of bein’ let off easy” (Hinton 87). Parts of the movie were exactly like the book. Including the time when Pony, Johnny, and Dally went to Dairy Queen and when Johnny got the food for them when They were at the church (Hinton 87-88). Another similarity is when both Ponyboy and Johnny watch the sunrise and Pony says out loud the poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” (Coppola, The Outsiders). Some differences are that when they both start.…

For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…

It was written by S.E Hinton and directed by Francis Ford Coppola.…
