In the book, it sly stated that Dally’s death was police suicide, the definition behind that is that he wanted the police to shoot him, proven by a quote in The Outsider that states “And even as the policemen’s guns spit fire into the night I knew that's what Dally wanted” (p.176). Dally got into this right after Johnny’s death. Dally cares about Johnny shown when Dally stayed with Johnny in the hospital instead of going to fight, and helped Johnny run away from the cops with Ponyboy. But Johnny is dead, and in the state of shock and sadness he did what he did all his life, get into trouble. And after the police courter him in the parking lot, he saw two choices, get arrested or die. Sadly he picked the second choice by risen the unloaded gun at the police. The greasers saw this as they were trying to help. A line in the song “Out of the doorway the bullets rip” is from Ponyboys point of view since he ran to save his friend Dally, who somehow threaten the police resulting to them shooting

Despite the danger of being in a gang, that is outweighed by the love and support that Pony receives from his brothers, something that would be lost forever if Pony is ever to be send to a foster home. In addition, Pony already has created a bond with his gang, a deep caring and understanding for one another that could never be recreated within an orphanage. Furthermore, Ponyboy may be surrounded by “delinquents” or “criminals”, but at heart Pony’s greaser family is very loving and knows very well the importance of sticking together. Like Dally fights just to relieve stress, his parents don't care, which makes him jealous of what Pony has and how much Darry cares about him. This shows in Dally's attitude at the drive in when he starts being rude towards the girls who are innocently sitting there watching the movie. I think he is so used to getting everything he wants including the girls Cherry's refusal comes as a surprise to him. He thinks he can do whatever he wants and get what he wants. Because of Greasers like Dally the Socs judge all of them and make assumptions that they all act that way, which is wrong.…

In “The Outsiders”, S.E. Hinton created more than twenty characters each having diverse personalities, which causes readers to feel a certain way about them, such as admiration or hatred. For example, Sodapop Curtis would make the perfect bae, because of his charming personality. Additionally, if Darrel Curtis, Soda’s older brother, were a real person, he would most likely become someone's frenemy, due to his actions and words. While Dallas Winston would be the ideal person to be eliminated from the young adult novel. So, the three characters’ different actions, words, and personalities, cause people to conclude that their bae would be Sodapop, Darry would be their frenemy, and lastly, they would desire for the seventeen-year-old Dally to be eliminated.…

Many stories reflect a work of Shakespeare’s in some way or another. One story that I remember comparing to Shakespeare’s play “Romeo and Juliet”, was “The Outsiders”. Both center around two groups that despise each other, in “Romeo and Juliet” it was the Montagues and the Capulets, and in “The Outsiders” those groups are the Socs and the Greasers. One theme in Shakespeare’s play is that hatred and fighting will bring tragedies. This is evident when Johnny dies in the book.…
