Can the roughest toughest greaser become a kind, supporting guardian? keep reading to find out.
In the book The Outsiders by Se. Hinton. I believe he is an unworthy guardian, he is a good brother but is a bad “parent”. Because why would a brother do things that I’m about to label. isn't being taken care of him because he is too young! I think darry is 20-years old and 17-years old soda, his sibling being a dropout? he doesn't want that. He will barely get to pick a job with that record, in my opinion. So now that I have your attention let’s get into more details.
Before I start I just want to prepare you if you don’t understand. I’m going to be labeling my problems one at a time with the first, second, third and fourth finally ok? alright, let’s get started!
First, Darry is

“Darry isn’t ever sorry for anything he does” pg.6 How is Ponyboy going to learn his manners or be nice when his guardian isn’t saying sorry or anything.
Third, He dosesn't know that he’s being rough which is really bad especially when he slapped Ponyboy.
That shows violence and that he’s violent. I mean sure someone can get mad but it’s not ok to slap minor. I mean that could’ve gotten Darry in huge trouble. Darry would get taken away and then Ponyboy would get taken no matter what then soda would’ve been all alone by himself and it would be all darry’s fault. “nobody ever in the family hit me” pg.50
In contrast, Darry does care and is now a better person. They have been through a lot together Darry does take care of him through thick and thin and he took care of Ponyboy in the hospital. He was there always. No matter what he works his butt off just for him to go to a great school and then a college.
In conclusion, He isn’t a good guardian at all, letting him go into rumbles and go alone places knowing they have enemies. Restating, I think he is not worthy of being a guardian because he allows Ponyboy to do bad

Since Ponyboy’s parents died, there is not a responsible figure in his life. As a result, there has been many horrible incidents in his life because of his current irresponsible caretaker, his older brother Darry. Because of these incidents Ponyboy should be in the system instead of in his care. One reason Ponyboy should be in the system, is that Darry hits Ponyboy when he was angry with him. This shows that Darry is still too young and irresponsible to be a parent.…

It can be very hard to change people's opinion after they think they know your personalities. "I mean my second oldest brother Soda, who is sixteen, never cracks a books at all, and my oldest brother, Darrel, who we call Darry works to long and hard to be interested in a story or drawing a picture, so I'm not like them." This quote shows that unlike Ponyboy, nobody in his family wants or is interested in the things Ponyboy is. Ponyboy doesn't like to fight, in fact he wishes that people didn't even fight at all. This shows how Ponyboy isn't like his friends, he doesn't really want to fight people to prove himself.…

The Outsiders Essay: I believe that Darry is the real hero in the book because he had to take care of two kids by himself at an early age. He also had to work two jobs to make enough money to keep Soda and Ponyboy in school and eating well. He also looked after not only his brothers but also other people in their gang because he was the strongest. I also think he is the real hero because even though Ponyboy and Soda may not like it he is really strict so they can stay a family and not be separated. Also so Ponyboy can finish school and go to college to have a better life.…

At first Ponyboy thinks the Socs have it made, but by the end of the novel, he too realizes that "things are rough all over". Not only does he find that different people have different problems, but little experiences can be the same for any other, such as the sunset. Once he views Cherri's and Randy's perspective without his own ideals clouding his judgment he is able to understand that the sides make no difference unless they are perceived that way. Ponyboy realizes Darry really did love and care for him and just yelled at him at times and nagged him because he didn't want him to get hurt. His fear of "losing another person he loved" (p.98) is what makes him so protective, and it's not that he has no feelings as Ponyboy originally believes, but too many.…
