The Outsiders book and movie tell an interesting story about the greasers in the 1960’s. Written in 1967 by S. E. Hinton, this book is told from the point of view of a 14-year old boy named Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy and his gang of greasers are misfits and they are always fighting the rich kids from the west side of town. These kids are known as the Soc’s and they’re described as stuck up rich kids who only think of themselves. A girl named Cherry Valance is the only good Soc that Ponyboy meets and they become friends. The Outsiders book and movie have some differences but they have many more similarities.
