Mary follows her heart and she falls in love and follows that feeling; while Anne is more led by her reason. In the scene where Anne returns from France and makes a spectacular apparition in king’s banquet, she demonstrates that she’s going not only to become the king’s mistress but she aims to be the queen, which is extremely ambitious of her. While Mary agrees to endure kind’s cold attitude and deliver a child to his majesty, Anne doesn’t want to find herself in similar weak position, so she uses manipulation and sexual blackmail to get what she wants. Eventually, the king gets affected by Anne to a great extent and is willing to give up everything, even to start a war, to get Anne. These two different choices that the sisters make prove that Mary is more pure and loving, when Anne is more arrogant and ambitions, she never stops.
Taking into consideration the two scenes analyzed above, it is very clear that Anne and Mary are absolutely opposite characters with different attitudes to life and approaches to relationships.
