Competition in the commercial arena is rapidly increasing. More efforts are put in the organizational processes to ensure their survival and prosperity in the industry. Globalization has augmented global competition extensively and companies are increasingly pressurized to increase their presence in terms of performance and profitability. With the advancement in technology, options for competitive advantage are diminishing. However, progression in technology has not been able to eradicate one form of competitive advantage –People. The corporate world has realized this fact and thus there has been an increased investment in managing the people of the organization – Human Resource Management. A great emphasis is being laid towards this process as firms have come to realize its personnel may be the last source of competitive advantage, which is ever so vital in competing in today’s global village.
Employees are an organizations greatest possessions; without them, daily business functions such as managing cash flow, making business transactions, communicating through all forms of media, and dealing with customers could not be completed. People and the potential they possess drive an organization. Modern organizations are rapidly and consistently changing. Organizational change not only affects the businss but also its employees.
