As soon as I receive a notification of an upcoming event, my team and assistant are notified immediately through a warno. Directly following, I meet with my assisntant to begin developing a plan of action, timeline and begin searching for team members who are available to participate in the event. While this is happening, I myself am contacting event orginizers to obtain as much information about the event as possible, as well as conduct reconnaissance on the area of operations if possible. Once the plan is finalized and team members are set, we conduct full rehearsals and uniform inspections in final preparation for the event. After the event is over, after action reviews are conducted to review our preparation and performance to continue bettering ourselves in light of future events. The operations process drives the commanders use of troop leading procedures ensuring that they are “envisioning a desired future, and laying out effective ways of bringing about that future (ADP 5-0.”) It is the commander’s responsibility to drive the operations process and to ensure that his subordinates maintain a complete situational understanding.
