Some families think that when a family member lives in the United States, they assume that their family is in paradise picking money off trees. But instead, an undocumented immigrant faces many challenges to adapt to the American culture. Some find many challenges which can cause them to develop some mental health issues. Some find many challenges which can cause them to develop mental health issues. For both young and adult undocumented immigrants, they both face numerous of challenges when trying to assimilate into the American culture. For instance, young immigrants are less likely to develop mental health issues than adults undocumented immigrant. But, they are the one who has more challenges than the adults. Young undocumented immigrants face many barriers such as adapting to a new school, learning a new language and adapting to a new culture. “Immigrants teenagers say they live within their own worlds in high school… they have separate teachers and curriculum… these students are both academically isolated” (The Grad Journal). Isolation between young undocumented immigrants with other students is very common in schools.
