According to the US census data from 2005 “indicate that there are more than 770,000 same-sex couples, and they are to be found in more than 99% of US counties”(American Public Health Association, 2015). When homosexuals get married they are bringing financial gain to federal, state, and local governments and will also help boost the economy. Same-sex marriage will not harm the institution of marriage, and same-sex marriages may even be more stable than heterosexual marriages. Homosexuals who are married want the same marriage benefits heterosexuals are receiving, for example, being able to adopt a child. Same-sex couples should not be denied the right to be able to adopt children because of states they hold within their marriage. By giving homosexuals the same benefits as heterosexuals have when it comes to marriage, will allow them to gain health benefits, tax benefits and much more. All same-sex couples want and are fighting for is to have equal opportunity and rights to what the heterosexuals
