What should we have for dinner? This may seem like a simple question, but according to Michael Pollan, author of The Omnivore’s Dilemma, how we answer it today could determine our very survival as a species. He believes that America has a national eating disorder (4). “When you can eat just about anything nature has to offer,” Michael Pollan writes, “deciding what you should eat will inevitably stir anxiety.” Nowhere is this anxiety more discerning than in the modern supermarket where new dietary fads such as “gluten free” and “free-range” products just keep coming.
