Gore and horror are two types of popular genres used in various forms of media and literature. Gore: blood that has been shed, especially as a result of violence. Horror: an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust. Why do people like scary stories? —Because they are entertaining and want to experience feelings of fear and shock by simply reading a book or watching a movie. Critically claimed, classic that has both gore and horror elements was, The Omen. Released by 20th Century Fox in 1976, The Omen, staring Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, Harvery Spencer Stephens, directed by Richard Donner, written by David Seltzer and produced by Harvey Bernhard. The nature of the film is psychological suspense that has both gore and horror elements.

Moral Allegory is you break a rule, and you get punished. There is usually a focus on the battle between good and evil. Damien and his followers murdered children that were associated with Christ, and in the end he was stabbed and in a church altar. Psychological Horror focuses on abnormal human psychology. It becomes apparent that Damien could be the Antichrist and son of Satan. The Fantastic, the source of the horror comes from not knowing, usually a supernatural occurrence that is only known indirectly. The young boy, Damien was marked with the infamous numbers six, six, six, on his head, these numbers are in reverence to Satan. However, in the first ‘Omen; in 1976, only two sub-genres were seen, Psychological Horror and The Fantastic, because in the first and second ‘Omen films, Damien was undefeated and killed all his enemies, until his demise in the last ‘Omen.
